FPG Passes with Distinction at Robert Gordon University

Situated on one of the most beautiful campuses in the UK, Robert Gordon University is currently the top university for graduate jobs UK wide.

Through existing relationships with RGU, FPG are delighted to have been offered the contract to design and install Fire Detection and Alarm Systems to protect the new Riverside East Campus. The new system ensures the safety of students and staff and comprises of over 1100 detectors across a 5 panel network. This marks a continued success for FPG in the education sector.

FPG were a conference sponsor and exhibitor at the show. We focused on FPG’s High Hazard solutions and installations.

On the first day of the show Ken Strachan, High Hazard Divisional Director, gave an educational seminar from on the “The continued advancement in fire suppression systems”.

FPG Races to Victory at the Ascot Racecourse

Ascot Racecourse covers 179 acres and is visited by 500,000 race goers annually. Through existing relationships with Ascot Racecourse, FPG were invited to tender for the Fire Alarm maintenance. This proved successful and as well as the maintenance, FPG are also providing engineering attendance for all key race meetings throughout the year. FPG are very happy to be working with this prestigious and world famous sporting venue.

This is a unique, highly cost effective and environmentally friendly emergency lighting system that incorporates the latest in LED and battery technologies. With major installations already completed at “The Belfry”, University of Edinburgh, to mention a few, FPG will provide you with one of the best quality products delivered and installed to the highest standards. The system is based around an emergency lighting control panel with battery back-up and features addressable, self-contained luminaires and signage interconnected via traditional extra low-voltage cabling.

Based at Prestwick the high technology centre of GE Aviation is one of only two UK specialist overhaul and repair facilities. The Prestwick facility specialises in the GEnx next generation turbofan, the workhorse engine of the 21st century for medium-capacity, long-range aircraft such as the Boeing 787 & 747-8.

With such valuable assets and a world class facility GE chose FPG to replace the existing Fire Alarm System with an L1 category analogue addressable automatic Fire Detection System c/w full colour Graphics, 7 panel network, point detection and aspirating units throughout.

Such an important site deserves a world class platform and in this instance FPG chose to use Hochiki Europe as their leading manufacturer. Renowned for its robust protocol, reliability and build quality Hochiki were delighted that their 24 year partnership with FPG continues to grow from strength to strength.

FPG Glasgow University

Education Excellence

Founded on the 7th of January 1451, ranked 51st in the world & 9th in the UK, The University of Glasgow is one of the UK’s leading institutions and is steeped in history, tradition and achievement. With names such as Francis Hutcheson, James Watt , Adam Smith, Lord Kelvin, Joseph Lister, 1st Baron Lister, not forgetting seven Nobel laureates, two British Prime Ministers, and numerous leading figures from legal, scientific and business professions, Scotland can be proud of this Universities’ immense achievements.

FPG are also extremely proud to announce that as of the 1st of August 2014 we have been awarded the service & maintenance contract for the Fire Detection and Alarm systems within the whole of the University portfolio (Some 397 buildings). This prestigious contract was won in the face of fierce competition from a multitude of applicants nationwide, reducing to a short list of 10, then 4 and finally 1 – FPG.

To top this FPG were also awarded a 6 figure contract to replace the Fire Detection and Alarm system within the Gilbert Scott building (Built 1807) one of Scotland’s iconic architectural treasures which also contains the world renowned Hunterian Museum. In addition FPG are also installing new Fire Detection & Alarm systems within 7 other properties including the Reading Room, Anderson College, Aeronautics Wind Tunnel totalling in excess of 3000 devices.

FPG Galaxy II

Offshore Windfall

FPG are delighted to be awarded the contract to design, supply, install & commission Novec 1230 Gas Suppression Systems within the Galaxy II Oil Rig. Constructed in 1998, Galaxy II is a High Specification Jackup Rig capable of drilling appraisal wells to depths of 30,000ft.

FPG will install the suppression systems within the engine rooms, providing protection to these vital power sources capable of providing 11400 H.P. in total. Design was required to meet the strict ABS
standard approvals.

The depth of experience and expertise in Tunnel Protection within FPG has once again been acknowledged by securing a contract for the Kingsway Tunnel, Merseyside. At 1.5 miles long the road tunnel runs between Liverpool and Wallasey under the River Mersey. Having completed similar projects for Transport for London (TFL) our brief is to Design, Supply, Install, Test and Commission a Nitrogen or Inert Gas Foam System for the protection of the Mersey Tunnel Mid River Sump.

The system comprises of 22 x 67 litre N2/IG55 Cylinders, 2 off 310 litre water pressure vessels, safety/drain/fill/vent valves & level gauges, 17.5 litre foam tank (20l foam) & Foam Inductor, as well as a 6 point O2 and HC Gas detection system and 3 fixed point EExd IP67 Rate of Rise Compensated Heat Detectors.

Fire and Security experts FPG are bulding on their success in the South East with a series of account wins and key staff appointments. John Watson joins the team from (Siemens) and adds his experience to the highly successful teams in the Midlands and South East.

They say that ‘all good business is done on the golf course’ and that would ring true with FPG’s sponsorship of PGA professional golfer Stephen Gallacher. No sooner was the ink dried on the sponsorship agreement and Stephen had won the Dubai Open proudly displaying the FPG brand on his right sleeve. After finishing top Scot in this years Open Championship and a creditable 21st place on the challenging Muirfield links, Stephen finished 61st at the PGA Championship held at Oak Hill Country Club, New York. Fresh from his his appearance at the FPG golf day at his home course, Kingsfield, Stephen was runner up at this years Johnnie Walker Championship held at next years Ryder cup venue, Gleneagles.
